American measurements: first identify the item
In the US, size names are used for both mattresses and bedding, but not every item called Queen has the same dimensions. A fitted sheet fits around the mattress, a flat sheet is larger, and a duvet cover must match the duvet insert.
In the following tables, the mattress dimensions are accepted dimensions according to which the mattresses are sold. Flat sheet and duvet cover sizes are shown as examples of a particular brand, because they vary between manufacturers. The conversion is based on one inch which is exactly equal to 2.54 cm, and is rounded to the tenth of a cm.
King and California King: what's the difference?
The standard King size is 76 x 80 inches. California King is 72 x 84 inches: it is narrower and longer. Therefore, California King is not a "bigger king" in any way, and a fitted sheet of one is not a substitute for the other.
Sometimes duvet covers and flat sheets are sold in a joint size King / Cal King. This does not mean that the sheet with the elastic fits both; Read the breakdown of each part.

Twin, Twin XL and Split King
Twin and Twin XL differ in length. According to the dimensions of the mattresses in the table, the difference is 5 inches, that is 12.7 cm. When purchasing for a dorm room or an adjustable bed, check especially the length and not just the width of the sheet.
Split King consists of two Twin XL mattresses. Usually choose two suitable fitted sheets, one for each mattress. Separately, you can choose a shared blanket or two blankets. The structure of the mattress does not require one of the options.
How do you check suitability for a bed in Israel?
Convert the measurements and compare to the actual width, length and height. An American Queen with a width of 152.4 cm is not an Israeli mattress with a width of 160 cm. An American King with a width of approximately 193 cm is not equal to 180 or 200 cm.
Check the depth of the pocket: 16 inches is about 40.6 cm, but the manufacturer's fit figure determines. Don't rely on elastic or mesh to make up for a size difference that hasn't been set to fit.

Frequently asked questions about bedding sizes
Is Full the same as Queen?
No. Nominal Full is 54 x 75 inches and Queen is 60 x 80. Duvet cover may be sold as Full/Queen, but fitted sheet requires matching to the mattress.
How many centimeters are in one inch?
One inch is exactly equal to 2.54 cm. Convert each side separately.
Is California King wider than King?
No. It is 4 inches narrower and 4 inches longer than a nominal King.
Does the bedding material change the size chart?
The size name does not change according to the fiber. In cotton, linen, microfiber or jersey, flexibility, pocket depth and care instructions must be checked separately.
