What does the number on the laundry label mean?

According to GINETEX, the number in the washing symbol indicates a maximum temperature for the described process. You should also refer to the subtle instructions and the rest of the label. An instruction of 40 degrees does not change to 60 because you want "deep cleaning".

Check the complete set, including embroidery, elastic and finishing. Two 100% cotton products may have different instructions, so there is no single temperature chart based only on the name of the fiber.

What do you do when the label allows 60 degrees?

A care symbol permits the process it describes; it does not require the same cycle for every level of soiling. Read the appliance and detergent instructions and separate items with different care requirements. A suitable load and detergent dose are part of the process.

If the goal is to treat a specific stain, start by identifying the stain and the instructions for the appropriate material. Raising the heat without understanding the stain is not a universal solution, and may make it difficult to remove certain types of stains.

What is the difference between cleaning and disinfecting?

Cleaning removes dirt from fabric. Disinfection aims to reduce microorganisms and requires suitable conditions. Selecting a particular temperature alone does not prove that bedding has been disinfected. Cycle length, load, actual temperature and the product used can all matter.

For a defined medical need, get instructions that are appropriate for the situation and the product. How do you treat the Eco program?

Read the explanation of your model: a program name does not guarantee that the water is kept at the number of degrees indicated in the name throughout the cycle. Check which items the program is intended for and what the permitted load is.

For example, a set that can be washed up to 40 degrees and a protector with other instructions are not necessarily suitable for the same cycle. Take a picture of the labels and keep them next to a handy program list so you don't have to guess at each change.

Example: Divide the same set with different instructions

Let's say that washing up to 60 degrees is allowed on the sheet, but a lower limit appears on the decorated duvet cover. The fact that they were bought together does not allow both of them to be included in the hot program. Check all the markings, including the fineness requirement, and not just the prominent number.

If washing items together, choose conditions suitable for every item and for the cleaning needed. If a special requirement conflicts with one item’s label, separate it and find out how it should be cleaned. Increasing the temperature beyond the care label is not a safe way to reconcile an ordinary routine with medical guidance.

Why do the load and dosage also enter into the decision?

Choosing 40 or 60 is only part of the session. A certain program can be designed for a load smaller than the maximum capacity of the device. That is why you should check the program you have chosen in the machine manual, and not be satisfied with the number of kilograms that appears on the front.

Use the amount of material according to its instructions and according to the device and the washing conditions. Do not assume that more material compensates for a low temperature, or that high heat compensates for a compressed drum. If the result is not good, check each factor separately before automatically switching to a more powerful program.
